Our Service Offer

Learning Providers supported by RSC Eastern include FE and HE institutions, the Adult and Community Learning sector, Work Based Learning and Specialist Colleges connecting to JANET as a primary connection who have access to support from their JISC Regional Support Centre.

We can provide assistance on topics including network infrastructure, connectivity issues, staff development in e-Learning, advice and guidance on accessibility and managed learning environments as well as helping you identify potential sources of learning materials. Our aim is to be a 'one-stop shop' for institutions in the Eastern Region on any e-Learning related issues.

Liaison Visits to your site are offered subject to availability. During the visit, you will receive an update on new e-learning initiatives, the activities of the RSC and its partner organisations and any new JISC resources and services. The visit also enables us to find out more about your needs and establish how the RSC can best support you.

e-safety

RSC Eastern provides a support blog for e-safety including weblinks to help inform and advise on how to stay safe online. Safeguarding is now a limiting grade in Ofsted inspection and e-safety will be assessed within that context. There is no check-list or strict guidance to determine your e-safety procedures as such and the advice from ofsted is to visit the good practice database, an overview of the strengths and areas for improvement that have been identified can be seen on the Excellence Gateway. JISC Legal has produced a document which is a checklist of questions for institutions to consider when updating or framing a new e-safety policy. It serves as a quick reference guide - e-Safety Policy Checklist.

eSkills for e-Learning

The eSkills for e-Learning Programme is a course comprising of 9 x 3 hour modules which cover the essential skills and knowledge which are needed by teaching practitioners to enable them to use technology for teaching & learning. To find out more visit Staff Development.

Using Generator you can review your current use of technology. It will enable you to clearly identify areas where it is effectively used to achieve outputs and has a positive impact on learners’ outcomes. The tool further highlights areas where there are opportunities for improvement.

Bid Writing

We offer a critical friend service to providers who are submitting bids with technological focus, for example JISC & LSIS. This does not guarantee success, but does offer objective advice & guidance.
